Qantas Launches New Freight Services
Qantas is expanding its freight services and capacity to meet the growing demand of an evolving freight industry. From the 26th of August, the Australian carrier Qantas will introduce new freighter routes connecting Australia to Hong Kong and New Zealand, utilizing it’s A321P2F and A332P2F aircraft.
The new schedule includes two weekly return flights between Sydney and Hong Kong, along with a weekly Perth-Hong Kong-Sydney route, operated by Qantas’ widebody A332P2F.
Additionally, there will be five weekly flights from Sydney to Christchurch via Auckland, with four rotations serviced by the more fuel-efficient A321P2F, including a new weekend service, and one rotation handled by the A332P2F to accommodate larger cargo shipments. Beginning 9th September, Qantas will introduce a Melbourne connection to enhance transshipment options.
These new services are set to integrate into the broader Australia- Hong Kong trade landscape, reflecting the long-standing trade relationship between the two nations. According to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in the 2020-21 fiscal year, Hong Kong was Australia's 13th largest export market, totaling $11.1 billion in bilateral trade of goods and services. Hong Kong is Australia’s largest commercial presence in Asia, with Australian goods exports to the region valued at approximately $6 billion in 2021. Australia supplies high-quality food and beverages to Hong Kong’s retail and hospitality sectors, including wines, fresh and chilled seafood, beef, pork, premium fruits, nuts, vegetables, and dairy products.
The expansion of these services will enhance connectivity and capacity, enabling Powerhouse Logistics to operate more efficiently with our clients.
